New Art Manual Brings Back Realism
"The Artist's Atelier - Drawing and Color Theory" is a new manual on detailed drawing techniques by a world-renowned expert in the industry. It is now available for art students, art teachers, art professionals and anyone else over the age of 7 interested in developing their artistic talent.
Henry J.T. Doren developed this comprehensive book after a lifetime of proficiency in the world of art. As such, the manual is based on his own personal experience as a college professor and on the lectures of Frank J. Reilly, who has arguably contributed more to Illustration and fine art than any other.
"The work is impressive and true to the teaching philosophy of Frank J. Reilly," agreed Ralph Garafola, a teaching assistant in Reilly's classes.
Reilly's scientific approach to art, his belief in fundamental principles and formulas that must be applied with consistency, are all exhibited throughout the manual. Not only does Doren whole-heartedly support this approach, but he also believes this return to the importance of realism will drastically shake up the current modern art community.
"A revival of art instruction based on principles of craftsmanship is needed and may form the basis of a Renaissance of the 21st century," said Doren.
As such, "The Artist's Atelier - Drawing and Color Theory" covers fundamental structural concepts for understanding and drawing the human figure and head. It also provides analysis of the Munsell Color Theory in addition to discussing color mixes and their application to figure, portrait and landscape painting. The focus on craftsmanship, practice of key principles and artistic structural concepts makes this manual invaluable to any person interested in honing their craft.
Author Henry J.T. Doren certainly has the experience to create such an insightful manual. Before serving as a professor of art at the County College of Morris, Randolph, New Jersey for 14 years, Doren studied art at the Art Students League of New York, the Frank Reilly School of Art in New York and the Instituto Allende in Mexico. He then went on to become an exchange scholar in Europe before becoming the publisher of NJ ARTform, an art magazine in New Jersey.
Today this painter is the recipient of numerous art prizes and has shown has shown in over 40 college and private galleries with works in private and public collections in the United States, Canada and Europe. Doren was also listed in Who's Who in American Art 1993-4, 97-97 ed., Who's Who in America, 1993-98 ed., and in the Directory of International Biography [23 ed.. Thanks to his incredible history within the art industry, Doren's manual conveys the critical techniques of drawing with clarity, making it an essential manual for any individual wishing to learn or improve on these important art techniques.
